Description
While many are familiar with the Prayer to St. Michael inspired by Pope St. Leo XIII, the Chaplet of St. Michael is less well known. This Chaplet is a powerful invocation of this great Angel along with the Nine Choirs of Angels especially in spiritual warfare. Who better to lead us into battle than St. Michael with the Nine Choirs of Angels.
Saint Michael, appearing one day to Antonia d’Astonac, a most devout Servant of God, told her that he wished to be honoured by nine salutations corresponding to the nine Choirs of Angels which should consist of one Our Father and three Hail Marys in honour of each of the Angelic Choirs.
She relays the following promise from St. Michael: "Whoever would practice this devotion in [St. Michael’s] honour would have, when approaching the Holy Table, an escort of nine angels chosen from each of the nine Choirs. In addition, for the daily recital of these nine salutations, he promised his continual assistance and that all the holy angels during life, and after death deliverance from Purgatory for themselves and all their relations."
The private revelation of Antonia d’Astonac and these prayers were approved by Pope Pius IX in 1851. He granted many indulgences to those who pray the chaplet as well.
